What Aternos does well

Aternos is completely free, with no paid plan, unlimited player slots and a long list of server types: Paper, Purpur, Forge, NeoForge, Fabric, Quilt, modpacks and Bedrock. It is also huge; its homepage shows over 140 million users. For many groups it is all they need.

We run Enzonic, which is one of the alternatives below, so we're not neutral. Every Aternos fact here comes from Aternos' own site and help center (checked October 12, 2026).

Why people look for an alternative

• Starting the server: Aternos servers stop when the last player leaves. Someone with access starts them again from the website, or automatically if players use Aternos' Dawn launcher. • Queues: when Aternos is at capacity, you wait in a queue and must click a confirm button near the front or lose your place. Its help center says you generally can't skip it. • Your own mods: Aternos has no FTP and blocks custom plugin and mod uploads; you choose from its list. • 24/7: Aternos doesn't offer it, and its terms ban bots used to keep a server online.

Free alternatives, and how they differ

• Enzonic: 3.5 GB RAM, 200% CPU, 5 GB SSD. Starts when a player connects (about 20 seconds in a lobby), SFTP, upload your own mods and plugins. One free server per account, subject to capacity. • Minehut: 1 GB RAM and 10 players free, wakes on join, no playtime limit; SFTP is paid. • FalixNodes: 2.5 GB shared RAM, mods and SFTP on free, a public start page, chat activity checks; free in 40 countries. • FreeMcServer.net: up to 1.7 GB, any mods and FTP, but servers need renewing every 4 to 6 hours. • exaroton: from the company behind Aternos; paid per hour of use (1 credit per GB per hour) with AutoStart on join.

How to move your world from Aternos to Enzonic

1. On Aternos, open Worlds and download your world. 2. Create a free server at https://panel.enzonic.com/auth/register with the same software and Minecraft version. 3. Upload the world folder with the web file manager or an SFTP client such as FileZilla. 4. Start the server once, then share your address. From then on it starts by itself when someone joins.

  • Match the software and version (for example Paper 1.21.1) to avoid world conversion problems. Make a copy of the download before you upload it.
